Most homes do not electrify in a single weekend, and they should not have to. The smart play is a sequence where each step lowers the cost of the next and you only pay to disconnect gas once, at the end.
Solar usually comes first, because it makes everything that follows cheaper to run. Hot water is often next, since it is the biggest gas load and attracts strong rebates. Heating follows with reverse-cycle, which is far cheaper to run than ducted gas.
Cooking is usually the last gas appliance to go, and it is also the easiest psychological hurdle. Once it is gone, you can disconnect the gas meter entirely and stop paying the daily supply charge, which on its own can be a few hundred dollars a year.
Done in the right order, electrification feels less like a renovation and more like a series of upgrades that each pay for themselves. That is the plan we map with every household.
