I am very happy with Luke Cove and Lightning Solar. I would like to give a thorough review of the issues we had and the solutions we found along the way with my thought process, because I was particularly impressed with Luke and would highly recommend this company. I should also note that I looked at all options, competitor solar companies and my current electricity bills before making any decisions.

I think it should firstly be pointed out that in the anecdotal experience of others I’ve seen around me and online, some other larger companies aren’t always doing the job one might come to expect of larger companies. I like to get good customer service and believe that a company like Lightning Solar provided this. I also believe, based on the words of others more knowledgeable than myself, that there is something to be said to have a qualified electrician overseeing the installation of the panels (which Luke is).

Luke did not try to ‘up-sell’ me a larger system (although I actually did order one because we will need it in the future and have a relatively large flat roof). I was impressed with this honesty and he genuinely seemed to know what he was talking about. He made some comments about the inverters which I also so happen to know are technically speaking entirely correct (via an electrical engineer that worked with some of these companies), and pragmatically speaking providing a better solar option. His pricing was very competitive.

The materials, panels and inverters he used got good reviews elsewhere, this was impressive too.

I was impressed because Luke and I discovered and discussed for about two hours on site the placement of the solar panel inverters. There were four options and we sat down and measured all options and discussed at length, leading to a very good outcome.

On the day of installation we discovered we had to slightly re-jig the layout of the panels to the inverters, and in a small space of time he came up with a good, practical solution that effectively still gives us a very good system with similar power characteristics.

He was quick to follow up in regards to establishing the feed-in tariff and he was a pleasure to deal with in general. I would highly recommend him and his team. I am very happy with him and have the utmost confidence in his work, his experience and his knowledge. It was evident that he does an incredible amount of solar installations himself with his team, takes a great deal of pride in what he’s doing, and is keen to please.

In short, I am very happy with the quality of materials, the work done, the pricing and the service.
